Metal Chemical Testing & Analysis
ASAP Metal Testing has extensive metal chemical testing equipment to perform your chemical analysis of metals with the highest level of precision. We meet our client's deadlines on time - every time.
What Is Metal Chemical Testing?
The simplest description of metal chemical testing is performing laboratory tests to identify or confirm the elements in a metal sample. This is accomplished when a sample is excited either with a flame or a high voltage spark in our chemical test lab. The concentration or “count” of each element is evaluated against both internal and set-up standards. The resulting output is converted into weight percent for each element.
The different types of laboratory equipment are all used based on the size of the submitted sample and the concentration level required by the specification. The following equipment can be used to identify the elemental composition of metal samples:
- Optical Emission Spectrometer - OES
- Induction Coupled Plasma Spectrophotometer - ICP
- X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer - XRF
- Atomic Absorption – AA
- Leco Carbon/Sulfur Analyzer
- Leco Oxygen/Nitrogen Analyzer
- Leco Oxygen Analyzer
What Are Metal Chemical Test Results Used For?
- Verify
- Identify
- Confirm
- Accept
- Or Reject when evaluated against the metal alloy specification requirements.
Metal chemical samples are tested by all industries to verify the material that was purchased, sold, or involved in a metal failure investigation conforms to industry requirements.
ASAP Metal Testing’s metal chemical analysis laboratory sees all material grades, sizes, and shapes of components for analysis. Metal chemical testing is an important tool that is used for all testing projects to confirm that the component in question was manufactured from the correct material.
